Let's Dive In with Brooklyn Comic Con

Let's Dive In with Brooklyn Comic Con

Brooklyn Comic Con, created by the founders of Sexy Nerds and conveniently located at the Brooklyn Expo Center. This first year con knew how to leave a first impression:

For the conventions first year, I have to say it was quite enjoyable. It was great to see friend's and family gather around in cosplay for a convention. The price's were reasonable as well; $40 for a weekend badge is a steal! However you can get it for $30 if you catch the early bird special. But there was not an option to buy passes at the door, you can only purchase tickets online which could be a problem for guest who only bring cash with them. It is a great location of choice for locals in the area as well since most New York City conventions are held in Manhattan. This convention also had some pretty astounding cosplays as well.

Dealers & Artist Alley & Guest - Perhaps one of the things about this convention I would say needs a just a small improvement on is the vendors. I loved the vendors they had for this event but I wish it was more organized. The dealers and artist weren't separated so it could be confusing for those who traveled to see their favorite vendors. The cosplay guest booths were pretty much separated from everything else which was nice since I was able to get a few prints from a few of my favorites. A lot of the cosplay guest were very engaging and I hope to see them again next year as they were lovely to talk too. However, if you didn't know; this convention did have a convention map which showed you an entire layout of the convention and where everything was. To find the booth you were looking for, you had to go online to check out the convention map and below it had a list of all of the vendors and dealers that showed what table number were they and where you can find them in the convention.

Panels & Game Booths - All of the panels were at the main stage which was also where the wrestling arena was at, it was rough trying to find out where the panels were since a lot of conventions separate main stage events and panels. I would like to see them utilize the space more in this venue and possibly separate the 2 as it would probably make it less confusing. They also had Arcade games here, what a way to bring me down Nostalgia Lane! They had quite a few fan favorites such as Street Fighter, TMNT, NBA JAM, and more. I enjoyed the selection of games they had here especially Mortal Kombat 11 as that game did not only release this year but is an overall amazing game. It was great seeing guest compete against each other and enjoying themselves

Food Court - They had some amazing food vendors at this convention. Let me tell you, that Jamrock Jerk is absolutely to die for. Perfect way to start the summer off, you can never go wrong with Jerk Chicken or Jerk Pork. But if you are someone who cannot eat gluten then you missed out on Kong Bab which was gluten-free Korean Bibimbap straight from Washington, DC. Bibimbap is addicting, I'm warning you now. Both food vendors were very delicious and I hope to see them both next year as well. I do hope they can bring a larger seating section (bigger chairs and bigger tables) as it made it a little rough to try and eat comfortably. They also had a bar in the convention? Which is super rare, you would normally catch beer rarely at conventions but seeing as Brooklyn Comic Con is run by the same group who run Sexy Nerds (which they do Cosplay Night Events in the city) it was nice to see them bring a little bit of the party to the convention.

Besides what can be improved on, Brooklyn Comic Con was quite a fun convention, this convention truly has potential to grow and I truly hope they utilize the space they have at the expo. I hope the convention can be more organized next year and with that being said we will be watching out for BKCC 2020, let's see what they have in store next year!
