From the moment you walk in you already know the thrive for comics is real. Our first time attending we were stunned to see how many comic and collectible lovers came just to get limited edition, vintage, and signed products. If anybody were to ask what is a comic con, East Coast would definitely be our go to recommendation.

If you read our Castle Point Anime Convention (CPAC) review, then get ready for this one. Conveniently located at the same Meadowlands Exposition Center, the handling of this con layout was quite different.

The first thing we want to mention is this is very much a Comic Convention. Pretty much almost every vendor caters to the vintage comic collectors, and anything DC/Marvel/Darkhorse/ETC. It’s a lot more packed than CPAC as they kept everything in one place and not spread out such as artists, vendors, panels and meet and greets, also following rather tight entry/autograph lining similar to that of NYCC.

They had a very interesting ticketing system such as a general admission lets you in at 10am which was about $40 but if you wanted to come 30 minutes earlier to grab any exclusive loot then the price jumps up to $60 (Each day is a different price). This is for the hardcore comic fans, we completely understand as we would pay extra to get some limited edition collectibles ourselves. If you are a hardcore comic collector, we recommend bringing/buying your own hard cover sleeves to protect the comic books or signed posters you purchase here. This con can get very crowded so you want to make sure your merchandise is well protected.

It’s a good place to perhaps meet some of your childhood heroes, like Val Kilmer (Batman Forever), Jeff Parazzo and Kevin Duhaney (Power Rangers DinoThunder) as well as many Classic Batman the animated series voice actors such as Kevin Conroy. Marty Grabstein who is the voice of iconic Courage The Cowardly Dog was here including Bill Camp who is the co-creator of Ren & Stimpy was also here. Talk about Nostalgia Lane, am I right?

There were a few real cool props such as the Bat Mobile as well as some photo set ups such as Star Wars and more. We also saw some great Indie Comic artists here as well, which is always a good sight to see and fun to check out some new reads! This con is also great for Networking as we not only got to speak with a few comic creators but we also ran into some underground comic creators and artist as well.

Overall it’s a great local convention. There isn't a lot of diversity in merchandise as most of the merchandise here is primarily focused on comics and collectibles but there are a ton of interesting vendors here. If you’re looking to actually have a chat with an industry creator- this is the con for you. Its a really amazing get-to-chat/meet and greet comic con where you can meet your favorite voice actors/comic creators/artist and much more. It’s a great event to hangout with your friends especially your super hero/villian friends, and we can't wait to be back next year to see what guest they bring in. We hope to travel down Nostalgia Lane once more as this con knows how to bring it. Till Next Time
